I was bitterly angry at the apple store today so I decided that in the spirit of vengeance I would use their demonstration computer to browse the economist.com and use up all five of their free articles this week. If anyone at the apple store wants to read another article they will have to wait until next week. That’ll show ‘em.

Spent the morning in bed writhing in pain, hoping my piteous moaning would rouse my aunt to come beat my skull in with a rock so I wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore. No such luck. What use are parents if they won’t murder you when you’re having a bad day? Also, yesterday I saw a car that unlocks via numerical punch code rather than keys. Didn’t know that existed. Cool?

Samuel Barnett and Johnny Flynn in Twelfth Night... →
I always thought it would be amazing to hear Johnny Flynn sing Feste’s songs in Twelfth Night - especially the last one - and now he’s in the play but playing a different part. It’s like the universe is taunting me.

we (as in my aunt and uncle) are getting rabbits. lots of them. apparently to sell as pets and maybe to eat? I can’t wait to see how this experiment turns out. just raided a nearby venue’s event schedule and am going to see Gregory Alan Isakov, Anais Mitchell, and Dry the River/Bowerbirds soon, which is something to look forward to. slogging through a 420 page economics textbook in...

nauticalstripesandcritterskirts replied to your post: My dad used to have a pet raccoon named Sherlock. … what about scratchy?? Scratchy didn’t like to sneak into the bathtub with people and pop soap bubbles on their backs, nor did he have seizures when people fed him cheese, so he’s not as interesting a pet raccoon as Sherlock is.

Fauxgress Watch: "Born This Way" →
But I think the most serious problem with this argument is that it reinforces the idea that we need an excuse to be queer. As a result, using this line subtly supports the idea that being queer requires excusing in some way. Don’t use it. Don’t allow straight people to generate an understanding of queer sexuality that sounds like: “Well, of course Bob wouldn’t wish to be queer, but he was born...

accountedfor asked: So I was on the metro the other day and I was sitting next to this old guy. We were chatting, and it came up that I went to W&M. And so he said, "Oh, yes! Where Jon Stewart went, and... oh, what's her name? Streep? Oh, no, Glenn Close is the one!" All I could think was, "I'm not the only one. There are dozens of us! Dozens!"

Went to Laduree because I am weak and succumbed to the media’s recent fascination with macarons. Which (even though I definitely don’t think people should feel ashamed for liking things that are trendy) I was still sort of ashamed of. They are delicious, though, so: worth the hype, probably. Also ran into a bunch of stores I didn’t know existed in the US. Fell in love with a...
